Q: What would you like to see your team accomplish in 2019?
I would like to see our Oracle FUEL team help half a dozen Oracle customers, or prospective customers, leverage our human-centric problem-solving methodology to go beyond design thinking and identify problems worth solving and opportunities worth conquering so collectively we can develop solutions that have a meaningful impact on their business and their customers.
Q: Who is your role model or hero?
My role model is the late Robert F Brands because he showed me that to be a truly great thinker and to help change the world for the better, you must identify insights that are meaningful and actionable, while also giving of yourself to help others seeking to change the world as well. This is why I'm now laser-focused on creating tools that empower others to drive innovation and change.
Q: What is your favorite book?
I have several favorite books, but one that I'm recommending right now is 'Winning the Brain Game' by Matthew E. May.
Q: Do you use any specific method or system to run daily operations?
I use a collection of methods in my work that all have value at the center, including the innovation methodologies I've created and tools like Design Thinking, Lean, Agile and my Change Planning Toolkit™ and Disruptive Innovation Toolkit™.

Q: Looking back - if you could advise a younger version of yourself to do something different - what would it be?
That's a difficult question, but sometimes I think that if I had it to over again that I would advise a younger version of myself to pursue a PhD instead of an MBA. Earning my MBA at London Business School was a great experience and I had the opportunity to meet a lot of amazing people and learn powerful concepts from world-class professors. But sometimes I wonder if earning a PhD would have been of greater advantage to this path I've gone down of writing books, giving keynote speeches, delivering workshops and creating toolkits to empower others to create innovation and change.
